Rescue Packing Provider are Advanced Pilots or Instructors with higher rating, who have completed the Specialty Rescue Packing Course and are able to recognize, control, pack and install all different models of rescue and in any paragliding harness, following APPI Security International Rules. Advanced Pilots can pack only their own rescues, while instructors can pack the rescues from anyone.

The APPI Open Sky Tandem Pilot rating is the first step to become an APPI Professional member. During their training, candidates review APPI Standards, procedures and general related issues. As well, candidates review their practical flying ability, general procedures and paragliding knowledge. Open Sky Tandem Pilots are allowed to fly ONLY with other certified pilots.

The APPI Tandem Pilot Course is the final goal to become a professional Tandem Pilot. During the course candidates review APPI Standards, procedures, philosophies and methods. After successfully completing an APPI Instructor Examination (IE), tandem pilots can carry any passenger of any age without aeronautical knowledge, and to do commercial flights, having responsibility for introducing people to paragliding through Discover Paragliding and various APPI programs. APPI Tandem Pilots can apply for forward specialties going more Pro as : Advanced Tandem Pilot, rescue packing provider and group leader .

Group Leader are APPI Tandem Pilots who want to continue his formation and APPI Education and have skill to guide groups of pilots. But are not authorized to use radio guidance communication, or take responsibility for pilots during the flights.
To enroll in an Group leader an individual must :

APPI Advanced Tandem Pilot is a Tandem Pilot having special skills in Tandem SIV and Tandem Cross Country. Advanced Tandem Pilots are Tandem Pilots in best qualification in the way to become APPI Instructors and Tandem Pilot Instructors.

Instructor Formation Course
APPI Instructor denotes an individual who has exemplary paragliding skills and role model behavior, solid rescue skills, professional level knowledge of paragliding theory, management and supervision abilities, and competence as a certified instructor. APPI Instructors are paragliding instructors from other paragliding training organizations or schools, as well, who successfully completed equivalence in skills. Instructors may conduct a large range of APPI courses and programs :from Open Sky to APPI Solo Pilot, Advanced Courses, Rescue or Specialty courses, when qualified. Instructors may become APPI Specialty Instructors and APPI Master Instructors.

1.Be certified as an APPI Assistant Instructor for minimum one year, or with another paragliding training
2.Be in good medical statement, in the form and state that as a candidate is fit for paragliding as a profession.
3.Completed minimum 60 days training course in at least three different schools, 20 days in each school. Composed of 15 days assistance from Open Sky to APPI Solo Pilot, and 5 days activity chosen by the instructor.
4.Be approved on theoretical, Practical and Audition Exams. Practical: to give one day course to real students, having two Instructors as a jury; Theoretical: To give one day course, having two Instructors as a jury and to expose knowledge and experience over one subject, by the jury. Audition: to explain motivation and to critic the presentation course.
5.Present logbook documented and signed by 3 instructors, from minimum 2 different schools.
6.Submit documentation of first aid training (Red Cross or other rescue organization equivalence).
7.Be certified as an APPI Rescue Pilot Provider or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.
8.Submit documentation of any qualifying certifications by another recreational paragliding training organization.
9.If not a APPI Assistant Instructor, successfully complete the APPI Assistant Instructor course rescue assessment.

APPI SIV Specialist Instructor has two phases – a training phase and an evaluation phase. Instructor candidates who have successfully completed the training Program ONLY may enroll in the exams. The exams must have minimum one Master Instructor and one Instructor to

The objective of this course is to teach how to pack and have a free process in security. Useful for public shows and presentations.

APPI Master Instructors are experienced pilots educators who have achieved the highest APPI Instructor ratings. Master Instructors have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the APPI System of Paragliding Education and have experience conducting the large range of programs and courses.
Master Instructors are members which influences changes to programs and standards. APPI Master Instructor have to follow APPI Education System and are representative of APPI in one country.

Adventure Pilot is a paragliding student capable to fly from the take off to the landing zone in stable weather conditions, in altitude gliding. But still allowed to fly ONLY with radio communication and under instructor supervision.

APPI Solo Pilot is the student who achieved the level to become an independent pilot, capable to fly without supervision and to analyze different weather conditions, having skills in alpine, soaring and/ or flat land. Before to fly in different sites, APPI Solo Pilots are recommended to choose places where they can have Assistance of an APPI School, where they receive important information, support and have more security. As a benefit of being an APPI member, any APPI Solo Pilot can get one day FREE Assistance in any APPI School worldwide.
1.Be certified as an APPI Adventure pilot or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.
2.Minimum age 16 years old (with authorization of legal representative), and according to local rules (Federation/ Civil Aviation/ Army, etc).
3.Complete 15 days course (including APPI Open Sky and Adventure Course) with registered instructor (logbook), including 25 flights done.
4.Complete the theoretical course, practical, analyze, technique and mental preparation stage 3, including knowledge Development II (5 chapters).

5.Be approved on practical and theoretical Exams, oral and writing.
6.Respect APPI Safety Rule and Quality Standard to contact the local APPI School and have one day welcome and free assistance to get information, when flying any different flying site where APPI Schools are available.
*Note: The local instructor decide if the pilot can fly on his own , following the APPI System of Education and safety.
*If the pilot is certified only Soaring, Flat land or Alpine, one day course is mandatory to get authorization to fly on the site with different skill. The course must be validated online.

ALPINE
APPI Solo Pilot with ALPINE validation means the pilot has completed his formation course in one area of mountain valley wind and thermals, and have skills PTU landing (aviation standard). Validation: minimum one day under instructor supervision on fly, analyze condition, landscape, etc.
SOARING
APPI Solo Pilot with SOARING validation means the pilot has completed his formation course in one area of meteo wind, venture, top landing, etc. Validation: minimum one day under instructor supervision, fly with meteo wind and top landing.
FLAT LAND
APPI Solo Pilot with FLAT LAND validation means the pilot has completed his formation course using winch system for take off. Validation: minimum one day under instructor supervision, fly and safety winch take off.
APPI Solo Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submit online a completed, validated APPI Solo Pilot Application to APPI website, along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable). To renew annually, the APPI Solo Pilot submits online a payment of membership dues. Automatically APPIâ€s Certification Card starts validation and membership is activated.

7.Be approved in the practical exams (three flights solo) and theoretical exams (100 questions in 5 chapters: equipment, aerodynamics, weather, technique of fly, rule and regulation); oral and/or writing.

APPI Advanced Pilots Certification must be validated by two different APPI instructors or higher rating status. APPI Advanced Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. . To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submit online a completed, signed Pilot Application to APPI website, along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable). Upon approval of the application, APPI will issue an APPI Certification Card.
To renew annually, the pilot submits online a payment of membership dues. Automatically APPIâ€s Certification Card starts validation and membership is activated.

To enroll in a APPI Advanced Pilot course, an individual must
1.Be certified as a APPI Solo Pilot, with both Alpine and soaring validation. Or have a qualifying certification from another training organization (see equivalence standard).:
2.Minimum age of 16 years old (with authorization of legal representative and according to local rules).
3Minimum one year experience and registered 200 flights/100 hours on logbook or 120 flights under APPI instructors supervision or from another training organization, equivalence.
Pilot independent, with experience, capable to fly and analyze all different weather conditions and in any flying site. An Advanced APPI Pilot qualifies the pilot who wants to continue APPI Paragliding Education, to improve his performance skills and knowledge and be ready to go Pro.
APPI Solo Pilot with ALPINE validation means the pilot has completed his formation course in one area of mountain valley wind and thermals, and have skills PTU landing (aviation standard).
Validation: minimum one day under instructor supervision on fly, analyze condition, landscape, etc.
APPI Solo Pilot with Winch - Flat land validation means the pilot has completed his formation course using winch system for take off.
Validation : minimum one day under instructor supervision, fly and safety winch take off.
Cross Country Pilots are pilots who want who have better skills in thermaling and performance. Either Advanced or APPI Solo Pilots can participate in this course, targets are different upon to the instructorâ€s supervision and students level. During the Cross Country Pilot course, students learn about thermals and flying techniques in long distance flights, expeditions and practices.
To enroll in a XC Pilot an individual must :
APPI Cross Country Pilots Certification, must be validated by an APPI Cross Country instructor. APPI Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. .

Cross Country Pilots do not require separate renewal – they are renewed when APPI Pilots renew their membership annually.
Performance Pilots are XC pilots who want who have better paragliding skills, combining performance in flight, distance, speed and safety. During the Performance Pilot course, students have training and preparation for competitions. Either Advanced or APPI Solo Pilots can participate in this course, targets are different upon to the instructorâ€s supervision and students level.
APPI Performance Pilots Certification must be validated by an APPI Performance instructor. APPI Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements.
To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submit online a completed, signed Pilot Application to APPI website, along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable). Upon approval of the application, APPI will issue an APPI Performance Pilot Certification Card.

SIV (Simulation dâ€Incident en VOL) Pilots course is designed for solo pilots on the way to became advanced pilots, having skills for action and surprises in the sky, safety from turbulence, collapses, throwing rescue, etc. And for advanced pilots who wants to update and refresh their skills and safety. The pilot practices how to collapse and control the wing in stages, over the water, and safe general emergency procedures. During the SIV course, the pilot develops the basic techniques which are also pre-requisites for acrobatic fly and acro specialties.
To enroll in a SIV Pilot course, an individual must:
APPI Advanced SIV Pilots Certification, must be validated by an APPI SIV instructor. APPI Advanced Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submit a completed, signed Pilot Application to the appropriate APPI Office along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable). Upon approval of the application, APPI will issue an APPI SIV Pilot Certification Card.
APPI Pilots do not require separate renewal – they are renewed when APPI Advanced Pilots renew their membership annually.
APPI Acro Pilots are APPI pilots and SIV Pilots with the intent to learn and to progress in special techniques in acrobatic fly. During the course, the pilot learns many maneuvers and have acro training and practice in security, over the water, in fundamental progression and safety conditions.
To enroll in an Acro Pilot course, an individual must :

APPI D-BAG Pilots are SIV pilots who intent to learn and practice deployment technique in security process. The pilot learns the deployment over the water, during a tandem flight, and open his glider in the air. The objective of this course is to learn how to have deployment process in security, students learn how do it in safety conditions.
To enroll in an APPI D-BAG Pilot course, an individual must:
APPI D-Bag Pilots Certification, must be validated by an APPI D-BAG instructor. APPI SIV Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submit online a completed, signed Pilot Application to APPI website, along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable).
